Welcome to Father’s Day weekend! We hope you didn’t forget or accidentally celebrate it a week early (why does it feel like it should’ve been last weekend?)! If you are looking for some last minute ways to celebrate, the city is here to deliver. So much going on, so much fun to be had. Get out and enjoy some of it!

BEER AND BBQ SHOW

Beer. BBQ. A match made in summer heaven. If you’re in agreement, head on over to the Western Fair District, Canada Building. There will be beer, wine, spirits, BBQ, food trucks, live entertainment, demonstrations, seminars, and so much more! This is a 19+ event – no babies, toddlers, children or underage teenagers will be allowed in the show.

SHANIA TWAIN

A new block of tickets has just been released! This is Shania’s big Rock This Country tour with all of her biggest hits and new music. She’s just finished her two year gig in Las Vegas and is now bringing the music across North America. She will be at the Budweiser Gardens for two shows – Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20 at 7:30m.

NORTH BY NORTHWEST WAREHOUSE SALE

North by Northwest is having a huge sale at the Western Fair District Progress Building this weekend. All swimwear, clothing, footwear, outerwear, and accessories will be 30-70% off. For all of the dates and times, see the link above.

LONDON’S KIDS EXPO

The London’s Kids Expo is this weekend in Victoria Park. This event has free admission! There will be food vendors, exhibits, crafts, live performances, and so much fun! There will also be carnival rides – a ride all day pass is only $20 for kids and adults ride with them for free!

LONDON MAJORS BASEBALL

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by spending it on the ball field with your favourite men. The London Majors are playing two games this weekend: Saturday at 7:35pm against Hamilton and Sunday at 1:05pm against Brantford. Play ball!

June

The first weekend in June is loaded with excitement isn’t it? It’s the last month of school and the weather is out of excuses – it has to be warm! To celebrate, London has some incredible things going on.

ED SHEERAN

If you were one of the lucky ones to get tickets, tomorrow night, Friday, June 5 at the Bud Gardens is going to be amazing! The concert begins at 7:30pm with Foy Vance opening.

GATHERING ON THE GREEN

For 33 years, London’s oldest community festival has been taking place in Old South. Join the party on Saturday, June 6 on The Green (the field beside the old LDCSB building at 165 Elmwood Ave) for live entertainment, food, so many kids activities, and over 90 local craft and plant vendors. The event runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm. A full itinerary can be found HERE.

CITY OF LONDON OUTDOOR POOLS

Can you believe it’s time for the City of London’s outdoor pools to open? The spray pads have been open for a few weeks now, but as of this Saturday Thames Pool, Stronach Pool, East Lions Pool, and Westminster Pool are open for weekends only. For more information, see HERE.

LONDON MAJORS BASEBALL

The Majors are playing this Friday, June 5 at Labatt Park against Kitchener at 7:35pm. They are playing again this Sunday, June 7 at 1:05pm against Barrie. Tickets for both games are $8 for adults, $6 for kids and seniors.

LONDON FRINGE FESTIVAL

The London Fringe Festival is on now until June 13. Forty-five theatre companies will be performing 350 times along with 35 visual artists at nine venues over twelve days. See HERE for all of the shows on stage, HERE for the visual artists, and HERE for all of the ticket information.

We’ve had enough of those April showers (and SNOW!) and we are ready to welcome in the May flowers. This weekend will be gorgeous and it’s time to break out of the house and have some fun in the city. Here is what you can do:

THE BRUSH OFF

Start the weekend off early tonight with The London Children’s Museum’s fundraising event The Brush Off. Sixteen artists will be competing in this live painting competition over four rounds until the winner is determined. You will help determine who the ultimate winner is and even have the chance to bid on the artwork. Proceeds from the event and silent auction will go toward the London Children’s Museum’s Priority School Subsidy Program. For tickets, see HERE.

CHAINSAW CARVING

This three and a half day event is sure to entertain and enthrall your kids while raising money for a great cause! The Easter Seals Camp Woodeden is hosting a Chainsaw Carving event beginning today, April 30 until Sunday, May 3. Come and see as 12 chainsaw carvers create art sculptures around Camp Woodeden as well as carvings for sale for you to take home. Camp Woodeden is a camp for children with physical disabilities that allows them and their families to participate in all of the joys of summer camp. COMPOST VALUE DAY

Saturday, May 2 is Compost Value Day. For locations and times of where you can pick up a large bin of compost for only $3, see HERE.

REFOREST LONDON TREE SALE

Reforest London is having a tree sale this Saturday, May 2 from 8:30am to 11:30am at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic School in northwest London. These low cost, native trees are available as a part of the One Million Tree Challenge.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

The first Saturday in May is known as Free Comic Book Day! Anyone who visits one of the participating comic book stores this Saturday will receive a free comic book. There are five participating stores in London and one in St. Thomas. For stores and more information, see HERE.

LUKE BRYAN

If you were one of the lucky ones to get tickets for Luke Bryan at the Budweiser Gardens, you’re in for a good show! The concert starts at 7:30pm this Sunday, May 3.

Spring is here, Easter is around the corner, roadkill is gracing the main roads, and life in this gorgeous city is becoming a bit more bearable. If you would like to get out of your house and shake off some of this cabin fever, here is what London has to offer you:

SUGAR BUSH

It’s the last weekend for many of the sugar shacks in the London area. If you haven’t yet had your maple fix, get on out there and enjoy it. The maple season only happens once per year, but you can buy local maple products throughout the year at local markets and even many grocery stores. Be sure to either stock up or read the labels so that you’re supporting our fabulous local maple farms.

FAMILY FAVOURITES

Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakquel is going to be playing at Silver City Theatre in Masonville at 11:00am this Saturday, March 28. Admission is only $2.99 per person, no matter your age! If Alvin is a little too squeaky for you, Silver City and most other local theatres are playing Cinderella, the new animated movie Home, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, or Insurgent for the older kids. If you received a Cineplex Holiday gift card and it came with coupons, those coupons expire at the end of the month, so go use them while you can!

BOLER MOUNTAIN

The season is almost over at Boler Mountain, but weather permitting the slopes will be open this weekend for tubing from noon to 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday, for skiing or snowboarding from 9:00am to 9:00pm Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm Sunday. Go enjoy the snow before it’s gone!

ESCAPE ROOMS

Don’t be scared! And don’t put it off too long or you’ll be disappointed. If your interest was piqued about the escape rooms, book one now for this weekend and have a solid hour where you definitely won’t be thinking about the kids.

BUDWEISER GARDENS

It’s time for the OHL Western Conference Quarter Final. Games one and two are this weekend at the Bud Gardens with the London Knights. They are playing against the Kitchener Rangers Friday night at 7:30pm and Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm. There are limited tickets available, so snag some quickly!

The March Break may be ending, but you can finish it off with a bang! Lots going on in our beautifully muddy city this weekend, so get out and enjoy it!

LITTLE RAY’S REPTILE ZOO

March 18 to 21st, Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo will be bringing their show to you at the Western Fair District. So many animals and critters, live shows and demos! Bring your animal enthusiast to see all of it, interact, and learn. Admission is $12.50, children under 2 are free. The doors open at 10:00am.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR

The Palace Theatre is bringing Beauty and the Beast Jr to the stage this week with LYTE (London Youth Theatre Education). Bring your children to the enjoy the magic of live theatre! Tickets are only $15 for adults, $5 for children and kids under 5 years old are free (in your lap). There are daily shows, buy your tickets early.

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM

Did you know that the Mama’s and the Papa’s were only together for three years? The Grand Theatre has Dream a Little Dream onstage for their opening weekend and running until April 11.  It follows the rise and fall of the legendary 60′s musical group and perfectly captures the decade and excitement.

BLUE MAN GROUP

Their blue heads and feet may seem a bit odd, but this is a show that entertains everyone who sees it! For two nights only, the Blue Man Group are at the Budweiser Gardens and the second of those is tonight, Thursday, March 19 at 7:30pm.

SUGAR BUSH

It’s a short season, so don’t miss it! There is only another week of the regular sugar bush season, though some sugar shacks are extending their season due to the weather. That maple syrup, maple sugar, maple sugar candies, and maple cookies are the best from the source!

What a fantastic weekend ahead! The world is beginning to thaw and March Break is starting for those kids in the TVDSB and LDCSB. There’s a lot happening in our fine city this week, beginning with all of this:

SUGAR BUSH

It’s the perfect weekend to head out to the sugar bush and sample some of that delicious Canadian maple syrup. There are many in our area to choose from and most are offering a pancake lunch to sample the goods after you see how and where it is made. See HERE for the full list and locations.

BUDWEISER GARDENS

There are three games at the Gardens this weekend: Friday night the London Knights take on the Owen Sound Attack at 7:30pm; Saturday the London Lightning take on the Brampton A’s in the first Playoff home game at 7:00pm, then again for the second Playoff game on Sunday at 2:00pm.

BUILD AND GROW AT LOWES

Once a month, Lowes hosts a Build and Grow clinic for children in grades 2 to 5 and it is happening this Saturday, March 14 at 10:00am. Register in advance in-store. Registration is FREE, but is limited to the first 50 children. See HERE for more information and Lowes locations.

WORKSHOP AT HOME DEPOT

Home Depot hosts monthly workshop for children ages 4 to 12. Their workshop for March is on Saturday, March 14 from 10:00am to noon. Kids will learn to build sports book ends using a hammer and glue. All materials are provided and the workshop is free; parents are expected to stay and participate with their child(ren). Register online HERE.

FOREST CITY DERBY GIRLS

The Derby Girls are having a double header this Saturday, March 14 at the Western Fair District, Canada Building. The event begins at 5:00pm and is a family-friendly, licensed event. To buy tickets in advance, go HERE.

Baby, it’s cold outside. While we wait for that thermostat to get back to single (negative) digits, try to warm up with some of these fun activities!

COMMUNITY LIVING LONDON: NIGHT OF HEROES

Known as one of the best fundraisers of the whole year, the annual Night of Heroes fashion show pairs Community Living London clients with local heroes from London and area. Music, laughter, dancing, and an amazing silent auction round out this night of fun. The event is TONIGHT Thursday, February 26 at the London Convention Centre. The doors open and silent auction begins at 6:00pm, the fashion show starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are $50 each or reserve a table of ten for $500. For tickets, see HERE.

WOMEN’S WAREHOUSE SALE

The Women’s Warehouse Sale is back with the same great deals on women’s clothing: athletic wear, casual and lifestyle clothing. 40-60% all brand name clothing and accessories. BUDWEISER GARDENS

Two great games are happening at the Bud this weekend. The London Knights are playing the Guelph Storm Friday night at 7:30. The London Lightning are taking on Mississauga Power at 7:00pm on Saturday evening.

STORYBOOK GARDENS SKATING

It is the LAST WEEKEND to skate around the trail at Storybook Gardens. The skate trail and miniature play village are open Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 8:00pm.. Storybook Gardens skate trail closes for the winter season on March 1st.

WALK TO REMEMBER

The Bereaved Families of Ontario are having their 18th annual Walk to Remember at Westmount Shopping Centre this Sunday, March 1. Registration is at 9:30am and the indoor walk is from 10:00am to 11:30am. There will be refreshments, prizes and draws for all participants. Don’t let the February Blahs get you down! Get out of the cold and enjoy some of the wonderful things happening in our beautiful city this weekend.

BUDWEISER GARDENS

The Bud has plenty of excitement this weekend with the Knights taking on the Oshawa Generals Friday at 7:30pm followed by Nickelback on Saturday night at 8:00pm.

GRAND THEATRE

The Grand has a beautiful new play opening on the stage this week. Intimate Apparel is the story of an African American seamstress set in New York City, 1905. Already receiving rave reviews, this is one to see. There are matinees at 2:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and an evening performance on Saturday at 8:00pm. Intimate Apparel runs until March 7.

PALACE THEATRE

The classic Tennessee Williams play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, is playing on stage at the Palace Theatre from February 20 to 28th. There is an evening performance on Saturday night at 8:00pm and a matinee Sunday at 2:00pm. Tickets are only $20.00 each, plus fees.

LONDON BOAT FISHING AND OUTDOOR SHOW

The 32nd annual London Boat Fishing and Outdoor Show is at the Western Fair Agriplex this weekend! The doors open at noon on Friday, closing at 9:00pm. Saturday it is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm, Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and youth, children under 12 are free.
