Mark your calendars, Moms, because this Wednesday, May 6 is McHappy Day! This is the one time each year where you are fully encouraged to go to McDonald’s! A portion of every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot McCafe beverage sold for the entire day will go to Ronald McDonald Houses and children’s charities in our area.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES
London is home to a fabulous hospital which draws patients from all over southwestern Ontario and we are fortunate to have a Ronald McDonald House right next door. Because we are lucky to live right here, most of us will never have the need to stay in the RMH or have any firsthand knowledge of what goes on inside. The RMH provides affordable accommodation (only $10/night) for families of children who are in the hospital recovering from illness or injury, or receiving treatment. Families will have a home away from home, a hot dinner every night, somewhere to sleep, shower, play, and decompress.
Even for us locals, when your child is in the hospital, parents end up staying there also. Living in the hospital with your child as they recover from a surgery or illness can be overwhelming and exhausting in every possible way. The Ronald McDonald Family Room on the paediatric floor provides a place for parents to nap, shower, use a computer, have some snacks, get a coffee, and take a break from the hospital. When siblings come to visit their sister or brother, parents can take them to the Family Room for some one-on-one time. The room is invaluable.
MCHAPPY DAY
Get your morning coffee, stop in for lunch, bring the whole family for dinner. You are also invited to make a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities at any time! Use #McHappyDay to spread the word and help raise money for this amazing cause.
