Mother’s Day is just around the corner and whether you’re looking to treat your own mom to something special or you’re planning on conveniently texting this link to someone in your life for a little reminder, we are sure there will be something on this list for everyone.
WHAT TO DO
There are a number of places hosting specials for moms on Mother’s Day. Here are a few:
Yoga Shack on Ann St is having family yoga at 2pm on Sunday. Kids 5+ welcome, $5 each with all proceeds going to Africa Yoga Project. They’re also having a sale on passes for Mother’s Day, on now until Sunday. Treat yourself or your mom!
All current pass members are invited to bring their mom, step-mom, mother-in-law, or mom-figure with them to class on Sunday for free! One guest per Mokshie.
Moms and Grandma’s get into the park free on Mother’s Day! There will also be special Train Par-Tea with free lemonade served to passengers. Train tickets are $2/person (babies free).
East Park is open for Mother’s Day! They are offering mom’s a free round of mini-golf with a paid partner at the adult rate. Golf activities are open from 9:00am to dusk on Sunday.
Mom’s get into the museum for free on Sunday! The Children’s Museum is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday.
WHERE TO EAT
Mom’s eat free ALL WEEKEND (yes! starting today!) at Palasad. Kids must be there with you and someone has to order something more expensive than your meal. While you’re there, enter to win a Spa Day.
MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH
A number of places will be hosting special brunches for Mother’s Day. Make reservations as soon as possible because it is a popular event no matter where you’re going! These are only a few of the places doing something special; call up your favourite restaurant (or your mom’s!) and see if they have something special going on.
STAY AT HOME
Make Mother’s Day a stay-at-home, family day. Have a staycation in your own backyard or living room. Stay in your PJ’s, watch movies, snuggle, have a Wii marathon, take a long bath, have someone give you a manicure, and do whatever else you want to do with your kids – MOM gets to make all of the decisions, including making none of the decisions if that’s what suits you. Make sure everyone is aware of it the day before – no gifts needed, just their presence to make the day special. Or kick them out of the house and have the staycation all to yourself. It’s your day.
It is Mother’s Day weekend! And if you’ve had a peek at the weather, you’ll see Mother Nature is blessing us with some warmth, perfect for getting out and tackling spring projects! Or if you don’t feel like doing any work, try some of these ideas:

Check back with us tomorrow for all the details on what is happening this Sunday, May 10 for mom’s in London!
My Sister’s Place is a place that welcomes any self-identifying woman with open arms as a safe place to work through issues relating to homelessness, mental health, abuse, and anything else that leads them to needing a safe haven. They provide healthy meals, somewhere to shower and rest, use the internet, and access resources and supports for permanent housing, healing, and friendship.
This year, Bags of Love is aiming to collect 250 gift bags filled with treats and essentials for the women who use My Sister’s Place. These are women who don’t have the simple luxuries that many of us take for granted – a new toothbrush, some nail polish, candy, a magazine.
Please, take some time to fill a bag with love for one of the women. Aim for about $25 of un-open, new necessities and surprises, unwrapped and tucked inside a medium sized gift bag. When it’s full, drop it off at one of the two locations on the poster or contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are unable to deliver it in time. Do this with your kids, get your coworkers involved, spread the word to your friends. Team up with someone else to fill a bag or fill up more than one bag!
Deadline for donations is MAY 5.
