Sunday, April 26 is the date for this year’s Forest City Road Race. It may seem like a long way away, but now is the time to get registered for the race and save a lot of money doing it! The best registration rates are on right now until January 31, 2015.

FOREST CITY ROAD RACE

Every year, the FCRR happens in the early spring as a fundraiser for Thames Valley Children’s Centre here in London. TVCC serves more than 7000 children in the southwestern region of Ontario with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays, and autism spectrum disorders. Their clients range from newborn right up until young adulthood. The FCRR raises funds for programming that allow their clients to participate in their homes, communities, and schools to the best of their ability. It also provides programming for siblings of children who are clients of TVCC and support for their parents – invaluable services for so many families in London and area.

THE RACES

There are four events at the FCRR – the 5K open run/wheelchair, the 10K open run, the half-marathon, and the Fun Run for kids – an all ages run around Victoria Park on a safe, closed course.

REGISTRATION

Registration is open now for all events and online registration will be open until the Thursday before the race. Save $15 on registration, get a personalized race bib, and a tech shirt by registering before the end of January.

VOLUNTEERING

Not a runner? Not a problem. Volunteering for the event is a lot of fun for everyone involved. Get a group of friends together to man a water station and cheer on the runners, sign up to be a court marshal or hang out at the finish line to celebrate at the end of the race. Students can count the race hours toward their volunteer hours for graduation, so bring your teens along for the fun.
